What to do if scammed online?

JoeyB asked:

I made a purchase on TopQualityComp.com, and it turns out this website is a bunch of scam artists. Unfortunately, I was stupid in sending them a wire, and am unable to dispute the transaction at this point. My goods never shipped. I am out $260. After endless contacting of the company, I have filed reports with the BBB and FTC. I have send e-mails, faxes, phone calls, and a letter to this company. Nothing.

What do I do at this point. What CAN I do, if anything?

Pretty much nothing in order to get your money back.

To warn others you can make posts on scam websites & consumer alert websites.

Alternately if you’d like someone to scambait them (waste their time and money) you can contact a professional scambaiter who may be willing to bait them. A great site is . Make a post on the forum there and the scammers may get more than they bargained for, with hundreds of scambaiters wasting their time and money LOL

The best thing to do is find out the ip that is connected to you. (If keylogging). If not then change your passwords and security questions. Report the site that got you the virus and if serious damage has been done. Ring the police…
