What should I do? I posted an ad for e-pan handling online and got scammed?
sarah a asked:
Someone gave me fake money orders today. I was stupid and deposited 2 of them in my bank account. The lady at the bank told me that it would take a 1 week for them to clear. Come to find out, by looking at fake and real money orders online, they were fake. Can I get in trouble for this? I don’t want to get arrested. Should I call the cops and report this? There was a man who emailed me and the money orders were written in a woman’s name. And the man said he was from SC where the woman was from AZ. I’m from the US as well. Should I call the bank? Can the bank reverse the deposit? What should I do? There was $2,000 worth of money orders. I deposited $1,000. The man wanted me to send all but $500 to Africa which is something I thought was stupid so I didn’t do that. Any advice? Please help me. I filed a report to fraud.org but who else do I contact?

You will owe the bank when those money orders bounce.
You can file a complaint with the FBI:
